A new optional Hud just went on sale for Tiny Empires! It works together with the base HUD seamlessly, so it is not required to play TE. It adds new game features, primarily for those seeking the quest to become a King or Queen. It is the only route to reach that level now, so if that is your goal grab this HUD from the store. It will make that journey more fun i think, and enhances the quest. All future development will take place in Federation in terms of added game features.
The "basic HUD" will continue to be supported as far as bug fixes. The cost for Federations is $399 Lindens to help offset all the coding time that Ultralite Soleil (AKA the Emperor) had to put in on creating this. Only owners of the basic HUD full version can buy Federation from the vendor.
One other note: ONCE YOU USE FEDERATION. YOU CANNOT GO BACK TO THE BASIC HUD
So what's new - try being able to form alliances, manage populations, and other surprises, some soon to be added.

This game guide assumes you already know how to play Tiny Empires. For the original Tiny Empires game guide, click this:
Tiny Empires: Federation is an add-on to Tiny Empires. The TE: Federation hud replaces your old Tiny Empires hud, but you will still play in the same empire as everyone else. You can still interact with players who do not have the add-on, but they will not have any of the new features available to them.
What features, you ask?
To begin with, all nobles of rank Count/Countess or higher are responsible for a population of citizens. The size of this population is based on the actual number and rank of players in your downline. Proper care and feeding of your population will improve your reputation and possibly your income as well. Apathy or cruelty will lead to the opposite effect. Details of what this means will be left to your investigations...
Secondly, you will be able to form alliances with other players. This ability also comes with the rank Count/Countess or above. To form an alliance, just stand near your desired ally. You both must be Count or higher, and you both must own Tiny Empires: Federation. And of course, you cannot form an alliance with your current liege or any of your subjects. Allies will be able to help you by sending citizens your way if your population gets too low. Also you may send small ambassadorial gifts. More diplomatic options will be added as time goes by.
Most importantly, the path to monarchy for princes and princesses has been completely overhauled. If you ever had the ambition to become king or queen of your own land, Tiny Empires: Federation provides the only method to do so.
This is too funny. I was talking with a friend literally last night about how once you get to the Prince/Princess level that the game tends to get slightly boring. Then today they go and put out this update with the new features to make the game not boring at our level. Someone needs to inform Ultralite that he needs to stop reading my mind before I get thoughts. It's creeping me out.
ReplyDeleteAlso two new features I've encountered in the first 5 months on the new HUD are a Crime Wave feature where crime had driven 300 ppl out of my lands and it asks if you want to make a statement about it. I was also asked if I wanted to beautify my castle for different amounts of gold 2mil, 3.5mil, or 2.7mil. I don't remember what each one entailed, but didn't have the gold to dish out on something that big.
ReplyDeleteDo yourselves a favor and save your L$ and your game gold... don't get it. Suddenly you get population that you have to tend to, with crime, disease, famine, whatever, and this takes all your gold. I've not been able to step away from it (wow, I thought it was supposed to be a "background" game!) because if your population isn't happy suddenly you're not getting as much homage, and it costs much more gold to keep them happy than you'll ever get back in 1-2 gold more in homage.

Can't step away... if you miss a turn that says your population is ill at ease for whatever reason, they run away and there goes your $.
Can't buy land or upgrades, have to keep those villagers happy!
My suggestion: Save all your gold up you will need to become King/Queen THEN buy the rotten HUD.
Oh yeah, and once you've bought the HUD, you can't go back to the old version.
mmm, yeah, not so good that you can't go back. don't recall that in the notecard that went out. sure, it says it replaces, but NOTHING about you can't go back! I don't mind the crime, pestilence, etc. I do mind not being able to pop the old HUD on and be afk for a while without having to worry about my subjects getting wiped out.

Haven't explored the alliance option yet, but am looking for allies!

ReplyDeleteI think the upgrade is a nice change but I have a few questions and I think one might be a bug? First of all when I first put the HUD on, for those logged in it gave population. But later on when those that were not logged in did, the population for them stayed at 0.
ReplyDeleteThe homeage rate is at the % of your population .. and when i first put the hud on there was all this crime and before I could read it all I lost 7,400 population. which in and of itself is exciting but you sure don't have any time to really read through the options if you are not familiar with it and my population in 2 years has not gone back up any.
In addition if you can't make alliances with any of your liege or subjects, that leaves out most everyone but from different kingdoms.
The census now is nice though *smiles*
I have not tried it, and most likely I wont. Primary reason to stat playing TE in the first place, was the ability to detach from it and leave it running.

well I am upset. I puts on hud first time, I am prince with almost 4k land and a lot of peoples to takes care of. it tells me i has 0 populaitons and then tells me my people are sick and has pay 230k to gets doctors. my reward was better reputation and 0 people came to my lands. !! So now I stucks paying to do things likes this to keeps from loosing land.

I bought the add on with no mention in the note card you could not revert back. All it does it take gold, at double the rate you can earn it. Too mant problems for you to pay to solve and everyone I talk to is in the same boat, might as well pour your gold down the local well! I recomend nobody that enjoys TE to purchase the upgrade as it stands at the moment, and if the Emporer does not sort out the current issues my HUD will be assigned to the Trashcan!

Some months are void of any information, then the next one is just an announcement. Then more announcements. Way too many turns in between waiting for offers to buy land. Then the Trader show up and always wants 5,000 more in gold than you have.

Sorry TE developers, but this sounds like a bad idea. A full-scale turn-based strategy game is well and good, but not what I'm in SL for.
Why make it s you have to pay more attention to it? Mr emperor you have ruined a wonderful little side game.i will not be wasting my linden on the new hud, as it has deemed itself worthless. it isnt fair to everyone to change the rules in the middle of something. sometimes change is not a good thing... this is one of those times.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the new HUD hasn't been 'field tested' more thoroughly, and that you can't go 'backwards'. I find TE boring, too. It's tedious when turn after turn there are no offerings. It favors those who have all day to spend in SL. I hate comeing on to 'no offerings'. They could bring the pace up a bit faster. It's a snooze when it's not frustrating.

TE's original HUD programming is poor - unintuitive and unrelational - it catalogues your Fellows and Subjects, yet WASTES your time advising you not to pledge allegience to them, to offer them land, or prune actively productive Subjects! Not well thought out at all. Did the programmers think we wouldn't notice?
